Awake
Poems
Through this empty night I wander
Aimless and alone
No one to love no light above
To Show me the way home
It’s a long way to heaven
From where I’m standing now
A long, long way to paradise
But I’ll get there some how
Hold my hand you can guide me
Your smile opens the door
With your love to fill my cup
I won’t thirst anymore
An empty soul Marie Celeste
On the high seas of life
Doomed to wander endlessly
Through this eternal night
I pray sometime the dawn might come
The sun might fill the sky
And like a bird upon the wing
My soul will soar on high
For it can rain forever
Though darkest clouds descend
If there’s one thing I know for sure
It’s that all things must end

The dawn breaks
The ship sails
He who would be king
Must wear the crown
All else is fancy
Waiting waits
While dreaming dream
The night is long
For eyes that fear the dawn
All this is yours
Feast while the tables set

What’s to be done
Now the dice has been tossed
But tumble and wait for the fall
One too many moments
For numbers to count
Too many turns to call
Fate holds a promise
Spun from the past
Tomorrow is yesterdays need
Quivering eons
Bound by a cast
The bloom defined by the seed
The thorn in the grasping
The pain in the want
The journey like mist on the morning
Neither sword nor decree
Nor the prayer of the night
Can hold back the day from the dawning

four score heroes
on the highway
marching hard
against the dawn
come the morn
and darkness vanquished
fools must face
the light alone
fifty two years
spent in passing
waiting for
my dawn to die
waiting for
the truth to
hush me
with its silent lullaby
sweet the nighttime
rocks the cradle
stilling is
the silent sigh
